Hey hey! I’m Kendra, the sugar slinger behind Dem Suga’s.

By day (and night…and let’s be honest, all the in between moments), I’m whipping up sweet magic out of my husband’s commercial kitchen. He owns Magic City Grille, a whole brick-and- mortar situation, and somehow I slid right in and made myself at home in his kitchen like I pay rent in butter and sugar.

Fun fact: we’ve been rocking together since the 7th grade- yes, middle school sweethearts turned business partners. When he opened his restaurant about 2 1/2 year ago, he needed desserts. And me? I was just over here baking cookies for the kids and pulling out sweet potato pies on holidays like a seasonal superstar. But he believed in me way more than I was ready for and that did something.

See, I don’t do “just okay.” I don’t do “good enough.” If I’m all in, I’m ALL the way in. So even when he said my desserts were fine, I said “fine ain’t fabulous” and got to work. I dove headfirst into learning, experimenting, remixing recipes, tweaking flavors, basically turning my kitchen into a delicious science lab.

And listen… it paid off. Big time.

Now those once “just for the family” desserts are full on crowd favorites, and Dem Suga’s is doing its things. What started as a little baking here and there turned into a whole vibe and we’re just getting warmed up.

So yeah…that’s me. A little sweet, a little extra, and always leveling up.
